The Midland Astro Masters Round 3 was held at the excellent Telford Model Car Club venue. The track has undergone a recent renovation and is now one of the best Astroturf tracks in the UK. In the cold, damp and windy conditions, it was local ace Tony Bishop that held the number 1 position for the first 2 rounds, just 1 second off 12 laps. In rounds 3 and 4, the XB4 of Andy Webb broke the 12 lap barrier and with the fastest 12 laps in the last 2 rounds, qualified in pole position for the A final. The XB4s of Graham & Glen Howard and Michael Johnson qualified 4th, 6th and 10th respectively.
The A final was a fraught battle between the top 4; Andy Webb bringing the XB4 home in top spot, Graham Howard moved up from 4th to 3rd position, Michael Johnson had a great race and gained 5 places to finish 5th and Glen Howard finished in 8th place. The XB4 proved consistently fast throughout the changeable conditions, as we look confidently towards the next round in January.
